Halloween

When we got home from trunk or treating we had the kids dump out their candy the way Tim and I used to. Though we would count and organize ours. Tim told them they could eat one candy, I asked him how many he ate as a kid on Halloween, I said "we probably should not get into that." Then we dumped all the candy (this is the first year they brought more home then we gave out) into a basket, something that both Tim and I would never have allowed when we were kids. Oh the joys of being in charge, our kids know no different. What were our parents thinking letting us eat to our hearts content and then stash all the rest in our secret hiding places. Now a days its the ease of trunk or treating when all the loot is gone in 20 minutes. These kids know nothing of the hard work we went through to get our well deserved candy. Once my brother changed three times into different costumes to go to the houses again. Now the snotty kids ask you for the rest of your candy on there 7th visit to your car. If these kids were smart they would ransack a neighborhood who is trunk or treating of the people still at home who are more then happy to divulge a ton of candy on the few kids who show up. I took my kids after trunk or treating up the street to a few houses so that they know the old fashioned way of Halloween and they stacked up with all the good candy too. that will become our new tradition we cannot let these kids forget the journeys of their forefathers
